Hargrave Military Academy recognized Varsity wrestling Coach JC Coleman as this year’s winner of the OB Teague Coach of the Year for 2010. Coleman is both a successful coach and a Tac, (Charlie Co.), at the Academy. The award was presented Saturday, May 8, 2010.
“Coach Coleman has done a terrific job with our wrestling program,” said Dr. Wheeler Baker, Col. USMC (ret.). “He puts enthusiasm, dedication and drive into each practice, and it is well rewarded by the continuing efforts of our wrestling Cadet-athletes.”
Begun in 1999, the O.B. Teague Coach of the Year award is presented in memory of Mr. O.B. Teague, Jr., Hargrave Class of 1942, who was a former member of the Hargrave Board of Trustees and a loyal supporter of Hargrave athletics.
The award goes to the Hargrave coach considered by his peers as the school year’s most outstanding coach. The winner’s name is placed on a plaque with all former winners. This plaque is displayed in the Academy’s Primary athletic area. The O.B. Teague Coach of the Year award is a cash award, and is the single highest award a Hargrave employee can win for service to Hargrave athletics and its Cadets.
