Hargrave takes a holistic approach to reviewing applicants and awarding tuition assistance. We do not offer 100% tuition reduction, commonly referred to as “full-ride scholarships”; however, merit and need-based aid can combine to reduce the cost of attendance by 50% or more in some circumstances.
Quick Tuition Calculator
Hargrave is committed to honest and transparent pricing. Get an idea of what you could expect to pay with our Quick Tuition Calculator. The outputs of this calculator are non-binding estimates. Financial aid awards are only offered after a full application has been submitted, and a student has been admitted to the Academy.

Scholarships
Merit-Based Scholarships
Hargrave offers scholarships to academically qualified students (3.0 or higher GPA), students with previously demonstrated leadership experience, and students with a proven record of community service.
Scholarships are awarded on a first-come, first-serve basis, and the student must be accepted in order to receive any Hargrave Scholarship award.
All scholarship recipients are required to reapply for scholarship consideration annually.
Families only applying for merit-based scholarships do not need to apply through Clarity, but they must alert the Financial Aid and Scholarship Committee of their qualification and provide all necessary documents in order to receive the scholarship. A scholarship application can be obtained from the admissions office.
Baptist General Assembly of Virginia Academy Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded by the Baptist General Assembly of Virginia and is available to Hargrave students who are members of churches that belong to the Baptist General Assembly of Virginia and meet the additional criteria specified by the Assembly. The Virginia tax credit program is available to families that qualify based on the following criteria:
If you believe that your family may qualify for the Virginia tax credit program, please inquire with the admissions office for more details. Individual awards are based on family income and location, and may serve as a substantial contribution towards your son’s tuition.

Educational loans are an additional means to help offset education-related costs. Unlike the scholarships and discounts listed above, a loan must be repaid as per the guidelines of the individual lender. Inquire Now to discuss educational loan options with an admissions counselor.
