Eight of our Cadets have returned from the 43rd annual Military School Band and Choir Festival hosted at the New Mexico Military Institute in Roswell, New Mexico. It was an intense three-day festival where our Cadets worked with 140 other Cadets from ten military schools from around the nation. They received musical instruction from several of the nation's premier military musicians: the former conductor of the United States Air Force Band, Larry Lang, Colonel, USAF (Ret); current conductor of the USAF Academy Band, Lieutenant Colonel Daniel Price, and the current Drum Major of the US Navy Band, Senior Chief Musician Michael Bayes. The event culminated in a two-hour concert featuring the concert band, the concert choir, and a Drum Major competition.
Master Sergeant Selden has degrees in architecture and music. He joined the Hargrave family in 2017 upon his retirement from the U.S. Air Force.
Sergeant Selden enjoys sharing his love of the musical arts with cadets because music is the one true language that has no borders.
