Summer Program Address, Eric Peterson
Dear Summer Program Families,
It was a great pleasure to see so many of you on campus and at our closing ceremonies last week. The faculty and I thank you once again for entrusting us with your sons for the month, and we hope that as you’ve had a chance to speak with them, it’s become clear how impactful and valuable their time at Hargrave was.
We’re excited that many of you have already made the decision to enroll this fall. If you’re on the fence, please know we’d be glad to welcome your son back on campus for the Fall Semester. Building on the progress of recent years, there are a great many exciting developments on the horizon for the school. We continue to upgrade our facilities, with work proceeding in many areas, including air conditioning and refurbishing two additional barracks to support our growing enrollment. On the program side, we will be introducing new courses and program opportunities, including the return of our aviation program. Offered in conjunction with Averett University, the aviation/aeronautics program will allow qualified cadets to pursue an FAA pilot’s license while still in high school. This is the first of what we hope will be a series of innovative and compelling programs we will be offering this year and beyond.
More broadly, I want to emphasize that Hargrave is working hard to develop leaders of character for a world that badly needs them. Our emphasis across our four pillars of academics, athletics, character, and faith, along with the military program, are specifically designed to cultivate the habits of mind, body, and character that will serve our graduates in college and for the rest of their lives. Should you wish your sons to continue on this path with us, we’d welcome them, so please contact the admission office with questions or expressions of interest.
In the meantime, we wish you and your family every blessing. It was a great privilege to work with your boys this summer, and you should be proud of their efforts and successes.
Sincerely Yours,
Eric F. Peterson
