Hargrave's Varsity Swimming and Diving program has a long and proud history dating back to 1995. The team competes in the Virginia Independent Conference (VIC) and Virginia State Independent School Swimming and Diving Championships (VSIS) and routinely places in the top five in state level competitions.
Hargrave Military Academy is committed to swimming and diving. The pool, which is housed in the Onishi-Davenport Aquatic Center, is a heated 50-meter indoor pool which includes twenty two 25-yard lanes. It also has one 3-meter and two 1-meter diving boards. The Onishi-Davenport Aquatic Center also features a fully equipped athletic weight training center. This facility allows for national championship competitions to be held at the school.
Practice is geared toward the dedicated athlete who is willing to endure a tough training schedule to be the best. Additionally, Hargrave Cadet swimmers can train and compete in USA Swimming sanctioned programs.
Hargrave Aquatics is a member of USA Swimming, Inc., the national governing body for amateur swimming in the United States. Virginia Swimming, Inc. (VSI), the local governing body, sanctions age and ability specific competition throughout the year. USA Swimming determines who represents the United States in swimming during the summer Olympic competition.
I want to take a quick second to thank you for all of the memories you've provided me in these past two swim seasons.
This being my last, it was weird to look over into the blue tinted water covered in red light from the time boards and know it was my last time that I would swim competitively in this pool.
Thank you for the memories and the growth you have provided to me, last year's team and this year's team, as well as to my Coaches. You have been influential role models in my life and have guided me so far. Farewell Hargrave Swim!
