Mr. Frank Thomas ’87

Director of Alumni Affairs

Frank Hughes Thomas III '87 serves as the Director of Alumni Affairs at Hargrave Military Academy, where he is dedicated to strengthening the lifelong bond between the Academy and its alumni while preserving Hargrave's rich traditions for future generations.

A proud four-year boarding cadet and member of the Class of 1987, Frank returned to his alma mater after earning a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education from Averett University. Throughout his years of service, he has contributed to nearly every aspect of Academy life. He has served in the Military Department as a Tactical Officer, taught Health and Physical Education, worked in the Athletic Department, coached Junior Varsity Basketball, Varsity Baseball, and Varsity Football, and later became Student Activities Director.

For the past five years, Frank has served as Director of Alumni Affairs, where he has revitalized alumni engagement through reunions, regional gatherings, newsletters, social media, and meaningful outreach. His passion is connecting generations of Tigers and ensuring every alumnus remains a valued member of the Hargrave family.

Frank's commitment to Hargrave is deeply personal. Reflecting on his journey, he shares:

"The brotherhood is second to none, and the genuine care and love the faculty and staff provided me as a cadet can never be repaid—but I can give it back to those cadets who are here today. Hargrave is a special place, and our alumni understand that."

That belief continues to guide his work each day as he serves the Academy that helped shape his life.
