Hargrave Pool — Onishi-Davenport Aquatics Center

Our local community is welcome to swim and dive in our Olympic-sized swimming pool measuring 50 meters by 25 yards, which holds approximately 1,110,000 gallons of water!

  • The Onishi-Davenport Aquatic Center (ODAC) is known as one of the fastest pools in VA, with some swimmers qualifying for the Olympic Trials while competing in our pool!
  • Our depth ranges from 4.5 feet to 16 feet, with two standing platforms in the shallow end.
  • The pool is grounded, which means the ODAC does not need to close during inclement weather.
  • The ODAC provides US Coast Guard–approved lifejackets in limited sizes; different age-appropriate water toys; and qualified lifeguards during pool public hours.
  • The water temperature is kept between 82 and 84 degrees.

Aquatics Center Status

  • This afternoon [August 12th], the State Health Commissioner issued an order requiring all individuals aged two and older to wear masks when indoors at public and private K-12 schools in Virginia. This order was issued based on a directive that a public health emergency due to COVID-19 still exists, and that the order would inhibit the spread of the virus — as recommended and described by the CDC.

By the terms of the order, this indoor mask requirement applies to all K-12 private schools and all individuals in K-12 private schools — students, employees and visitors — regardless of vaccination status. The order is effective today and remains in place until CDC guidelines for K-12 schools change.

    Virginia Council for Private Education

In areas with substantial and high transmission, CDC recommends fully vaccinated people wear masks in public, indoor settings to help prevent the spread of the delta variant, and protect others. The CDC recommends that everyone in grade schools wear masks indoors, including teachers, staff, students and visitors, regardless of vaccination status.

    CDC Director Rochelle Walensky
