Aquatics Center

Hargrave Pool — Onishi-Davenport Aquatics Center

Our local community is welcome to swim and dive in our Olympic-sized swimming pool measuring 50 meters by 25 yards, which holds approximately 1,110,000 gallons of water!

Swimmers in the pool.
  • The Onishi-Davenport Aquatic Center (ODAC) is known as one of the fastest pools in VA, with some swimmers qualifying for the Olympic Trials while competing in our pool!
  • Our depth ranges from 4.5 feet to 16 feet, with three standing platforms in the shallow end.
  • The pool is grounded, which means the ODAC does not need to close during inclement weather.
  • The ODAC provides US Coast Guard–approved lifejackets in limited sizes; different age-appropriate water toys; and qualified lifeguards during pool public hours.
  • The water temperature is kept between 78 and 82 degrees (82–85 during the summer).

Hargrave Military Academy campus is tobacco, e-cigarette, and vaping-free campus. Additionally, no alcohol is permitted on the premises.

Public Hours

Open/Lap Swim — Beginning Monday, July 31, 2023

M–Fri 4:00–7:30 pm
Saturday 8:00 am–Noon
Sunday 1:00–4:00 pm

All patrons are asked to vacate the building within 15 minutes of the official closing time.

Pool Closings

Please note that the pool will be closed to the public during Hargrave Swim and Dive Team swimming meets. HAVA will commence at a limited capacity. All dates and times will be announced closer to the competitive season (early November to mid-February).

For any patron who has purchased a weekly or monthly pass for a time during which the pool is closed (e.g. federal holidays, swim meets, maintenance), the number of closed days will be added to the end of the pass. Therefore the patron will not lose any time due to the pool being closed.

Mask Policy

The Onishi-Davenport Aquatic Center is located within the private educational establishment of Hargrave Military Academy. At any time HMA may decide to implement the wearing of masks for everyone utilizing the facilities on campus for the safety of the cadets, faculty, staff, administrators, and the patrons of the ODAC. This would be announced through multiple mediums and be strictly enforced. If patrons fail to meet HMA’s mask mandates, they will be asked to leave the premises. Thank you for your understanding and patience as we adapt to the latest COVID information.
