Mallory Outlaw, M. Ed.

English Instructor

Mallory Outlaw is an English Instructor at Hargrave Military Academy, looking to bring creativity, depth, and passion to the study of language, rhetoric, and literature. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in English: Language and Literature from Winthrop University and a Master of Education in Advanced Studies, with a focus on Gifted and Talented Curriculum, from Converse University.

With teaching licenses in both Virginia and South Carolina, Mrs. Outlaw has over a decade of experience developing engaging, project-based learning (PBL) environments that challenge students to think critically and connect learning to the modern world. Her specialties include British Literature and Rhetoric, and she is especially passionate about helping students see how storytelling, language, and argument shape human experience.

Before joining Hargrave, Mrs. Outlaw served as an English teacher and literacy interventionist, as well as a professional writer. Her teaching philosophy centers on the belief that students learn best when they are given meaningful autonomy, authentic challenges, and opportunities to express their voices creatively.

My students never cease to amaze me. They often teach me as much as I teach them, reminding me daily that education is a shared journey. Meeting the modern student where they need us, in both heart and mind, allows a transformation to happen. Seeing a student start the year as one person and finish it as another is nothing short of miraculous.
