Coach A.W. Hamilton reached a massive milestone on November 12th, logging his 200th win as Head Post-Graduate Basketball Coach at Hargrave. Hamilton’s teams have combined for an overall record of 200 wins and just 24 losses, good for a 90% winning percentage. Hamilton was quick to defer credit for the milestone:
“It is an honor to be a part of such a great program and school,” Hamilton said. “I’ve been blessed to work with some outstanding coaches and student-athletes. Winning 200 games says more about our teachers, administration and president and their commitment to excellence than anything else. We all work as a team in all phases at Hargrave.”
Hamilton’s teams have seen over 100 players sign NCAA Division 1 scholarships, including 9 players that made it to the pinnacle of the sport, the NBA.
“In my 200 wins I haven’t scored a single point, snagged one rebound or dished out any assists; it’s been more about the players I’ve been lucky enough to coach. I always say that I’m only as good as the assistant coaches and players we recruit. I’m proud to be part of the Hargrave family and look forward to winning 200 more games, but ,more importantly, help these young men reach their dreams of playing college basketball.”
Hamilton’s 2016-17 team features 10 players that signed early Division 1 scholarships and are currently 11-0 and ranked #1 in the country in all major polls. They are currently riding a 41 game in streak and are the defending National Champions.
