Hargrave started quickly and never looked back in their National Elite 8 match-up against fellow top-10 opponent, South Kent (CT), earning their second trip to the Final Four in as many years. The Tigers jumped out to a big lead in the game’s first five minutes, getting up by as many as 22 points in that stretch. Hargrave was able to maintain their stellar play by managing to hold a 30+ point lead for the majority of the game before the game ended with a 21-point spread at 101-80.
Hargrave once again featured a balanced scoring act, with 6 players logging double-figure efforts. The Tigers were led by Brandon Knapper (16 points, 4 assists) followed by Braxton Beverly (15 points, 9 assists, 5 rebounds), Clayton Hughes (15 points, 5 rebounds, 3 blocks), Naji Marshall (13 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists) and Justin Brown (10 points, 6 rebounds). Sarju Patel also finished in double digits with 10 points in the contest.
This was the Tigers’ 11th straight “Elite 8” appearance, extending their National record. Hargrave will square-off against Northfield Mount Hermon in a rematch from last year’s Final Four, tomorrow at 12:00pm.
