Just one night after defeating East Charlotte Christian, the Hargrave Military Academy Varsity Tigers returned to The Jungle and delivered another dominant performance — this time against Winston-Salem Christian School. With a balanced attack and relentless defensive effort, Hargrave improved to 2–0 on the season, defeating Winston-Salem 71–54

Strong Start and Early Control
The Tigers wasted no time setting the tone, opening with a 16-point first quarter fueled by high-pressure defense and quick transition baskets. Hargrave’s defensive rotations were crisp, holding Winston-Salem to just 5 first-quarter points.
By halftime, Hargrave had extended its lead thanks to aggressive play in the paint and efficient ball movement, heading into the break up 34–24.
Balanced Offense
The Tigers’ offense continued to roll in the second half, scoring 21 points in the third quarter and maintaining control throughout. Hargrave’s ability to mix inside scoring with perimeter shooting kept Winston-Salem guessing all night. The team finished with a 46% field goal percentage and 42 points in the paint

Player Standouts
Sophomore Isaac Smith once again led the way with 19 points, flashing his inside-out versatility and athleticism above the rim. Kendall Lanier added 14 points, including a pair of deep threes and several key assists, while Jalen Carter and Nigel Gbekie contributed strong defense and timely rebounding.
Senior Guard Miles Rountrey-Gentle also provided valuable minutes off the bench, anchoring Hargrave’s second unit with energy and composure.
Coach’s Reflection
“We showed growth tonight,” said Head Coach Alan Petty. “Playing back-to-back nights takes focus, and our guys responded. We were tougher defensively, shared the ball better, and found ways to finish.”
