The Danville Register and Bee released their All-Metro Wrestling team today, and Hargrave placed two wrestlers on the first team, one wrestler on the second team and we won the Coach of the year award.
Will Glenn was a 1st team selection to the All Metro team. He is a senior and wrestled all season long at the 160lb slot. He finished the season with a 26-1 record while recording 11 pins and 59 takedowns. Will was a All VIC wrestler, and suffered a broken hand during the VISAA championship tournament. His leadership, and dedication to the team will be sorely missed.
Logan Mitchell was also a 1st Team selection to the All Metro Team. He will graduate this spring and wrestled at the 170lb slot. He finished the season with a record of 31-5 overall. During the course of the year he recorded 17 pins, and 40 takedowns. He finished second at the VIC tournament and 6th at the VISAA tournament. Logan’s involvement in the team the past 4 years will be missed as he graduates.
Coach Karle Byrd was selected as the Coach of the Year for the All Metro Team. Coach Byrd lead the team to an overall record of 15-10. His dedication to the young men he lead this past winter will be sorely missed as he steps down for next season.
Daniel Koenig was a 2nd Team selection to the All Metro Team. He will also be graduating this spring after wrestling the 113 lb slot this season. He finished with a record of 26-11 with 5 pins, and 24 takedowns on the season. He placed 1st at the Magna Vista Border Clash and 2nd in the VIC tournament. Daniel’s leadership, and hard work will be missed next year.
These four will be sorely missed as we look towards next year’s season.
