Hargrave, Pepsi, Danville Regional Medical Center, Todd Breaux State Farm, Michael Jordan and Dick Vitale have teamed up for a cancer awareness fundraiser with proceeds going to the Jimmy V Foundation. An event highlight includes an authentic Michael Jordan autographed basketball that will be raffled off during the second half of the game.
Pink shirts will be given away at the door along with a raffle ticket with the purchase of admission. The event will be an official ‘PINK OUT.’ All spectators are encouraged to wear pink.
“Please support the Pepsi Challenge at Hargrave Military Academy, Dick Vitale, a Hall of Fame announcer, said. “They are helping in the battle against cancer, a disease that affects all whether one is rich or poor, black or white. That disease can bring you to your knees. We must all unite to beat that disease.”
Hargrave’s Postgraduate Basketball team features some of the best rising student-athlete talent in the country. Team members include: Cadet Donte Grantham of Martinsburg, West Virginia (signed with Clemson); Cadet Rashard Kelly of Fredericksburg, Virginia (signed with Wichita State); Cadet Karl Overstreet of Lynchburg, Virginia (signed with ETSU); Cadet Justin Jordan of Charlotte, North Carolina (undecided; Michael Jordan’s nephew); Cadet Ahmad Thomas of Danville, Virginia, a local native and former George Washington High School standout.
Game doors open at 5:45 p.m. The pre-game video presentation begins at 6:40 p.m. Admission is $15. Proceeds support the Jimmy V Foundation.
