Tiger Football Tackles Conference Rival

Tiger open season with a win!

The Hargrave Tiger Football team had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They blew past The Eagles of Covenant 28-7. For the Tigers, this counts as revenge for the 48-30 win the Eagles walked away with the last time they faced one another back in September of 2017.

Hargrave scored its first touchdown on a 48 yard pass play from Cadet Charlie Wall to Cadet Justice Gunter.  Cadet Eh Na Mu converted the extra point to tie the score at 7. With 1:28 left in the first half the Tigers punched it into the endzone for a touchdown on a 10 yard run by Cadet Amare Word. Cadet Mu again made the extra point. At the 6:04 mark of the third quarter Cadet Arjun Gopalakrishna scampered in from 17 yards out and Cadet Mu followed with another extra point. On the first play from scrimmage after the touchdown Cadet Roundtree-Gentile picked off the pass from the Covenant quarterback and took it to the endzone for a pick 6 touchdown.  Cadet Mu then made it four for four with the extra point.

Coach Joshua Cothran said all the Cadets that traveled to the game were able to get playing time.
