Hargrave Military Academy advances to the VIC D2 Conference Tournament Championship for a rematch of last year’s title tilt against North Cross. The Tigers defeated Covenant in the VIC D2 Conference Tournament Semifinals by a final score of 91-40. Hargrave moves to 24-3 on the season.
The Tigers utilized a pair of big runs to really set the pace and tone for this game. Hargrave started out with an early 13-0 lead before Covenant stormed back and cut the Tiger lead to 12 points after the first quarter. Sloppy play in the second quarter by Hargrave, coupled with foul trouble, allowed Covenant to stick around. Hargrave took a 43-26 lead to halftime.
Coming out of halftime, the Tigers turned it on and opened up with a 23-0 run to push their advantage to 66-26, one they would not relinquish for the remainder of the game. Hargrave went 39-69 from the field, 8-21 from three point range, tallied 26 assists, 18 steals and grabbed 56 rebounds, 25 of them being offensive rebounds as they rolled to the 91-40 victory.

The Tigers head to Roanoke College on Saturday afternoon, February 25th, for the VIC D2 Conference Tournament Championship where they will face North Cross. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:30 PM.
