APRIL 7, 2026 — The 2025-26 Hargrave Prep Basketball season was one for the record books as this year’s campaign will go down in school history as one of the best overall seasons in program history. The year’s group finished 40-7 overall, marking the fourth 40+ win season in program history! The Tigers won numerous championships including the 2025 Fork Union Christmas Tournament, the 2026 First Piedmont Corp. Invitational, and the 2026 Elite Prep League Tournament en route to the program’s 20th consecutive appearance in the National Prep Championship, where Hargrave ultimately fell in the Sweet Sixteen for the fifth straight year. Hargrave upped their home winning streak inside historic Walter Davis Gymnasium to 148 straight wins and have continued the legacy of this storied program. Throughout the season, Hargrave has produced 4 different college commitments at the NCAA Division 1 and Division 2 level to this point: Shane Pendergrass (George Mason University), Yaw Ansong (The Citadel), Myles Sidney (Grand Valley State University), and Andrew Maria (Emory & Henry University), with the nine remaining members of the class of 2026 receiving healthy recruitment to date.

Both Shane Pendergrass ’26 (Upper Marlboro, MD) and Jhett Carter ’26 (Titusville, FL), along with Myles Sidney ’26 (Old Hickory, TN) will depart Hargrave among some of the winningest players in program history going 76-17 over their two years here in Chatham. In the case of Pendergrass and Carter, both leave Hargrave as some of the most decorated individuals in program history to the tune of Pendergrass finishing his Hargrave career with 1,213 points (3rd all-time), 613 rebounds (1st all-time), 86 steals (7th all-time), and 30 double-doubles (1st all-time), while Carter finished with 1,009 points (4th all-time), 345 rebounds (7th all-time) and 114 steals (2nd all-time) – both young men have left an indelible mark on our program!
