Tigers Fall Short on the Road

Jeremy Eubank

The Tigers hit the road on Tuesday evening to face non-conference opponent St. Anne’s-Belfield out of Charlottesville, VA. Scoring the opening goal and the last goal of the game, the Tigers fell short on the road 3-2.

Opening the scoring for the Tigers was senior center forward Youssef Abouzied (Cairo, Egypt) in the 6th minute off of a good through-ball from junior left winger Paul Hughes (Danville, VA) to take an early 1-0 lead. The Tigers would allow three goals though prior to the half time whistle to fall behind 3-1.

“We came out very strong to start and fell off the wagon a little bit during the first half,” stated Head Coach Jeremy Eubank. “We tried to mix some things up to find the right combination and was able to find it prior to break.”

In the second half, the Tigers dominated play as they came out and got 4 shots off in the opening 10 minutes of the half. “The kids played a good second half and dug deep to defend to win the second half,” stated Eubank. “I was very proud of how they fought back to get into the game and against a tough team.”

The Tigers were awarded a penalty in the 70th minute and Abouzied was able to put the ball in the back of the net to make it 3-2 with 10 minutes left.

The Tigers hit the road again on Thursday as they travel to Waynesboro, VA to take on Fishburne Military School. The game kick off is set at 4:30 PM.
