The Tigers took to the field to battle conference rival Liberty Christian on Thursday with a shorthanded roster and despite a solid team effort, it was not enough to topple the Bulldogs. Hargrave struggled out of the gate and were held scoreless in the first quarter for the first time all season. The Tigers would find their footing as the game went on, however, and started to convert some scoring opportunities in the second quarter.
Hargrave was led offensively by the strong play of Freshman Luke DeWitt (2 goals, 1 assist) and Michael Sullivan (3 goals). Also contributing to the scoring were Yvan Medard (1 goal, 1 assist) and Russell Ferguson (2 assists).
Making their first appearances in net all season, Chandler O’Connor and Justin Malinow fought hard all day to combine for 9 saves on the afternoon.
The loss drops the Tigers to a 4-4 overall record. They will look to get back in the winning column next time out as they take on Virginia Episcopal School.
