After 20 minutes of play, the singles ladder was rocking back and forth with scores of 3-2, 4-3, and 5-4 reflecting the determined battle between the Hargrave Tigers and Miller School Mavericks. The Men of the Match recognitions goes to Rankin Horsley (S1&D1), Dan Kim (S2&D1), and the third doubles team of Zach Gjenasaj and Sam Hazan. It took Horsley some time to neutralize the all-court game, fast hands, and booming overhead of Connor Shrader, 10-6. On the next court, Kim fought off the heavy spin and high bouncing shots of Andre Cosin to pull out a tight 10-8 victory. With the Tigers down 2-4 at the end of Singles Play, they needed to sweep the Doubles. Only Horsley and Kim were able to emerge with the third team point at #1 Doubles. Gjenasaj and Hazan were down 0-5 before earning their first service break. From then on, they fought for each game, taking 3 games before finally falling 3-8.
Several Tigers were also able to match up with MSA opponents to gain valuable game experience in exhibition matches. Tigers Vogel, Su, Ngabo, and Zhao were able to improve their game while official play finished on Courts 1-3.
We will close out our season on the road after the Easter Weekend with matches at North Cross (4/22), Carlisle (4/29), and Eastern Mennonite (5/1).
