Hargrave’s Varsity Soccer team opened their season against the Timberlake Tornadoes from Lynchburg, Virginia with a 4-3 victory. Scoring first for the Tigers was Tyler Fallen off of a nice serve by Bryan Glenn in the third minute of action. Our second goal of the match started in the backfield with Chang Nam moving the ball forward down the sideline and then passing it to Zachary Stone who shot and scored in the 32nd minute of play. At the half, the Tigers led 2-0.
Scoring in the second half was Tyler Fallen with Nii Akwetey assisting on the score. Unfortunately, the Tornadoes were able to come back and tie us up at the end of regulation forcing us to go into two overtime periods. Dapo Omisore scored in the first overtime period to give us a 4-3 lead. Defensively, Garrick Ellwood, Reiner Radkowski, Aidan White, and Kalin Sanders stepped up and helped keep them scoreless in overtime, thus giving us the first win of our season! Mahmoud Gamil had two saves while we kept them to 5 shots on goal. The Tigers travel to Westover Christian Academy in Danville, Virginia for their next match.
