On Thursday, March 21st, Hargrave got it first win of the 2013 season with a hard fought conference victory over the Covenant School by a score of 6-3. After falling behind early by the score of 2-1 the Tigers were able to bounce back and score three runs in the 5th inning and two more in the 6th innings.
Solid pitching and timely hitting was the key to the victory. Pitcher Caleb Mishue went the distance. He struckout 11, while walking 3. Mishue’s record on the year improves to (1-1). At the plate the Tigers were led by Nicholas Houck (2 for 3), Markel Owens (1 for 3), and Shane Bousman (1 for 2).
With the victory Hargrave improves to 1-2 overall and 1-0 in the VIC. The Tigers return to action at home on Friday, March 22nd in a non conference match up with the Bulldogs of Martinsville High School. First pitch is scheduled for 4:30 PM.
