The Hargrave Military Academy varsity baseball team jumped out to an early 5-0 lead over North Cross and never looked back, beating them 6-3 Thursday in Roanoke. Hargrave got on the board with five runs in the first behind a leadoff triple by Keegan Ferer, a single by Ryan Castellano, followed by two more triples by Braden Barnett and Harry Crosby. Hargrave tacked on another run in the fourth with a leadoff double by Ferer and a single by Spence Walker that plated Ferer for his second RBI of the game. Walker held North Cross’ rally attempts to just five hits, giving up two runs, both of them earned and striking out 6 batters. Braden Barnett finished the last two innings for the Tigers, giving up two hits and striking out five of the eleven batters he faced to earn the save. Overall, Ferer was 2-2 with two runs scored, Walker was 1-2 with 2 RBIs, Barnett was 2-4 with 2 RBIs, and Castellano, Dennis Britton, Zach Ruffin, and Harry Crosby all contributed with a hit a piece.
