The varsity baseball team improved to 2-0 in conference play and 4-3 overall with a win over Carlisle 12-1 Tuesday afternoon. The Tigers Jumped out to an early lead and never looked back to knock off Carlisle in 5 innings.
Cadet Brad Markiewitcz improved to 3-1 on the season going 4 innings striking out 4 and only giving up 1 hit. Cadet Riggs Jordan got the Tigers on the board in the first inning with a 2 RBI single, and Cadet Braden Barnett scored on a passed ball to take a 3-0 lead in the first. Barnett got Hargrave on the board again with his first home run of the season, a grand slam over the wall in left to give Hargrave an 8-0 lead. Barnett continued his hitting display with another homerun, his second of the season and second of the game, a three run shot over the center field wall to put the Tigers up 12-0 and thats all it took to run rule Carlisle in a game shortened 5 inning game.
Offensively, Cadet Keegan Ferer was 2-3 with 3 runs scored and an RBI, Barnett finished 2-3 with 3 runs scored, and 7 RBI’s including 2 homeruns, and Jordan was 2-3 with 2 RBIs.
The Tigers get back to action with another conference show down with Blue Ridge Thursday at 4:30pm at Blue Ridge.
