The Tigers opened the 2008 with a hard fought victory over the Raiders of North Cross. Coming off a three week lay-off, Hargrave fell behind by 14 points early in the second quarter. A furious ending to the first half allowed the Tigers to tie the score at 34.
After some halftime adjustments, the Tigers came out strong, building a lead of ten points by the end of the third. The Raiders would not go away in the fourth quarter. At several points, North Cross crawled within one point of a tie. Timely defensive stops and converting 11 of 14 free throws in the fourth quarter sealed the game for the Tigers 72-69.
Hargrave was lead by Adrien Lucienne with 17 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 assists. Also contributing were Mike Rodriquez with 16 points, Corey Thompson with 12 points and 5 assists, and Zach Edmunds with 11 points and 8 rebounds.
