The Tigers opened up the VIC conference tournament with a road game at Fishburne Military School. Hargrave came out of the locker room with energy, but struggled to convert baskets in the first half. This allowed Fishburne to take a 25-15 lead into the locker room at intermission.
Hargrave came out in the second half and set the tone defensively, forcing turnover that slowly brought the Tigers back into the game. The third period ended with a buzzer beating three point shot that tied the game at 35-35. The fourth quarter saw frantic action by both teams, as the lead was exchanged several time during the period. Hargrave was able to take a two point lead into the final minute. This lead was maintained in two critical defensive stands that prevented Fishburne from tying the score and allowed the Tigers to finish with a 53-51 victory.
The Tigers were led by Andrew Owusu with 17 points. Avery Johnson chipped in 15 points and 10 rebounds. Ben Amos scored 13 points and Danny Smith tallied 6 points and 6 assists. Hargrave advanced to the semifinals of the VIC conference tournament. The next game will be played on 2/25 at North Cross with a tip time of 6:00.
