Summary
Hargrave 2 – North Cross 2
Forwards Nick Barr and Aaron Snell scored in a tieing effort as the Tigers were held to a 2-2 tie against conference foe North Cross on Thursday.
Barr scored the Tigers first just five minutes into the match off of a Josh Splinter corner after beating his defender to the ball with a header into the back of the net. The first half would give both sides few more opportunities with North Cross outshooting the Tigers 6-4.
With a 1-0 lead heading into the second half the Tigers continued to play well and threaten the North Cross goal. Junior Aaron Snell made good on his first opportunity of the match from a Nate Anglin long ball in behind the North Cross defense. Snell took control of the Anglin pass just inside the right flank, pushed forward keeping his defender behind him, and netted a perfectly struck ball into the opposite corner from just inside the 18 yard box. Although, the Tiger’s 2-0 advantage would be short-lived as their opponent would draw one back 12 minutes later, and then net the eventual tying goal three minutes after. The match would lead to overtime, but with neither team able to find the game winner.
