Attending the Border Clash Tournament with 16 competitive public school teams we knew we were in for some serious competition.
We were randomly seeded in the 16-man brackets and often went up against the top four seeds, so the boys had to do their best. In the next two rounds Ebrahim Al-Aghbari, John Mize, Joseph Murray, Cameron Spangler, and Andrew Scott came back with a vengeance to keep our team in the running. Sebastian Richardson, Cameron Spangler, and Andrew Scott made it to the consolation semi-finals, but ultimately missed a medal. All of them fought with true Tiger spirit.
One notable match included Ebrahim Al-Aghbari as he fought a nationally ranked opponent. For four minutes, the opponent tried to manhandle Al-Agbari, but for all his skill and expertise, the experienced wrestler could not pin Al-Aghbari. A first year wrestler frustrating a nine year veteran is really something so see. Ebrahim may not have won the match, but he certainly earned respect.
Great job to all of the athletes on their improvements!
