Note From the Infirmary

The infirmary staff continues to closely monitor cadets, faculty, and staff for illness and COVID testing as needed. Due to the new COVID variants, we will be using a new rapid test next week as one tool in our mitigation process.

If you would like for your cadet to receive the COVID vaccine (initial vaccination, second dose, or booster), please email the Infirmary.

Winter Weather Fun

Hargrave cadets reveled in the opportunity to make full use of the school’s wide assortment of sleds (and anything else that would slide down the hills). Teachers incorporated outdoor lessons covering topics such as the chemistry of snow formation and calculating the velocity of a snowball.

Middle School CIS Science Class

Students learned about Alfred Wegener and created a model depicting his theory that the fossil record suggests the continents could have been formed into one super continent called Pangea. This is expanding upon a unit from their geography class. The Middle School Center for Integrated Studies uses activities like these to reinforce concepts across multiple subjects.

Yearbook Senior Ads

Hello families and guardians of 2022 graduates!

This is an exciting year for you and your cadets. The yearbook class would like to give you the opportunity to recognize and celebrate the hard work of your young men by purchasing a senior ad!

Below, there is an attachment with instructions on how to both create and purchase a senior ad for the yearbook. The attachment also includes prices and details for the ads.  This year we are offering the option of either a full page or half page advertisement for your senior. You have the ability to design your own ad, or you can have one of our students design it for you with pictures you provide.

Please feel free to reach out to Jami Forrest at [email protected] if you have any questions or concerns.

Bison Invitational Wrestling Tournament

Our Hargrave Wrestling Team traveled to Buffalo Gap High School for the Bison Invitational Tournament on Saturday, January 15. The format was a double elimination Individual Tournament. First, I am proud to report that we had two place winners in a tough tournament featuring Public and Private Schools. First, Senior Eryk King placed 2nd overall in the 113 lb. Division. And Junior Malachi Jackson, wrestling in his first action since a painful injury, worked hard through a tough 170 lb. Division for a hard-earned 3rd Place finish. Newcomers Billy Wagenseller not only wrestled his first High School matches, going 1-2, but gained his victory by pinfall. Unfortunately, Noah Rollins saw his day cut short as he ran out of blood time in a hard-fought Medical Default. Rocco Burrell and Trey Gravely continue to learn and battle, going 0-2 in a tough weight classes. Freshman Thomas Vaughan gained a victory by pinfall going 1-2 on the day. 8th Grader Richard Hah won a great battle 9-6 and lost on a controversial call in O-T to finish his day 1-2. Overall, it was a challenge not seeing my guys for 3 weeks and then having only 5 days to prepare for a difficult tournament. However, I am seeing great improvement in skills as well as self-confidence. I feel the guys are growing from their experiences as athletes and as people.

-Coach Vaughan
