Ladies’ Dress Guidelines for the 2026 Military Academy Ball

The Military Academy Ball is a prestigious and formal event. To preserve the dignity, tradition, and decorum of the evening, all attendees are required to adhere strictly to the following dress code.

General Dress Code Requirements

  • Sheer Fabrics: Dresses must not be see-through in any area of the bodice, midsection, or skirt.
  • Necklines: Low-cut, plunging, or revealing necklines are not permitted. Dresses should provide modest and appropriate coverage at the front and sides.
  • Back Coverage: Dresses may feature open backs, but they must not extend below the natural waistline. Excessively low or revealing back designs are prohibited.
  • Slits: Slits in skirts must not exceed fingertip length when standing with arms naturally at the sides.
  • Two-Piece Dresses: Two-piece gowns, including those with cut-outs that expose the midriff, are strictly prohibited.
  • Length: Dresses must be full-length (floor-length). Tea-length, cocktail, or above-ankle styles are not acceptable.
  • Fit and Style: Dresses must be formal evening gowns in design and presentation. Tight, excessively revealing, or casual styles will not be allowed.

Dress Guidelines by Category of Attendance

1. Attending with a Senior Officer

  • A full-length, all-white formal gown is required.
  • Elbow-length white gloves must be worn throughout the formal proceedings.
  • A long-stemmed red rose will be provided to each lady for the Red Carpet Walk and must be carried with grace.
  • Gowns must remain within the standards outlined in the General Dress Code.

2. Attending with a Senior Cadet (non-officer), Junior Cadet, or PG Cadet

  • A full-length formal gown adhering to all General Dress Code requirements is required.
  • White gowns are not permitted for this category.
  • Dresses may be of any appropriate color other than white, provided they meet all coverage, slit, and fit standards.

Judging for King and Queen of the Ball

Ladies will be judged not only on the appearance of their attire but on the overall presentation. Judging will be based on:

  1. Walk and Posture – grace, poise, and confidence during formal presentations.
  2. Appropriateness and Elegance of Attire – strict adherence to the dress code and the overall sophistication of the gown.
  3. Overall Impression – the complete presentation, including accessories, grooming, and demeanor.

Additional Notes

  • Your cadet/date will be dressed in their Full Parade Uniform.
  • All attire is subject to review at the entrance. Any dress deemed inappropriate or non-compliant with these guidelines may result in being denied entry.
  • The Academy reserves the right to enforce these standards firmly to uphold the dignity and tradition of the Military Ball.

We look forward to celebrating an elegant and memorable evening with all attendees honoring the tradition of this distinguished event.
