Masks Required at Hargrave, Regardless of Vaccination Status, Until Further Notice

This afternoon [August 12th], the State Health Commissioner issued an order requiring all individuals aged two and older to wear masks when indoors at public and private K-12 schools in Virginia. This order was issued based on a directive that a public health emergency due to COVID-19 still exists, and that the order would inhibit the spread of the virus — as recommended and described by the CDC.

By the terms of the order, this indoor mask requirement applies to all K-12 private schools and all individuals in K-12 private schools — students, employees and visitors — regardless of vaccination status. The order is effective today and remains in place until CDC guidelines for K-12 schools change.

In areas with substantial and high transmission, CDC recommends fully vaccinated people wear masks in public, indoor settings to help prevent the spread of the delta variant, and protect others. The CDC recommends that everyone in grade schools wear masks indoors, including teachers, staff, students and visitors, regardless of vaccination status.
