So, you’ve decided to take the big step and apply to a new school. After weeks or even months of research, you’ve narrowed down your choices, and you’ve decided to take the plunge with the school (or schools) you feel best meet your son’s needs. Making that decision was a big step and now you’re probably wondering what’s next. If you’ve chosen to apply to Hargrave, first, let us say thank you for considering us worthy to partner with your family in your son’s education. Second, this article will help show you exactly what is next.
If you haven’t visited our apply page, now is a great time. There you can review our Admissions Criteria to make sure your son is qualified to apply to Hargrave. It is also a great time to contact our admission office (email@example.com or submit an inquiry form) and speak to one of our admissions counselors if you have not already. They would be happy to help you work through the admissions process. Next, gather up all the information you will need to complete your application. Having school addresses, teacher and principal email addresses, test scores, report cards, and transcripts close by will make your application process simple and quick.
Next, you’ll need to go to the online application portal. Hargrave uses an online application system that will simplify your application process and automate your requests for records and recommendations. After creating your account, complete your application and pay your application fee (your application fee will be credited towards your tuition balance when you enroll). After your application and fee are received, an admissions counselor will contact you to help you work through the remaining items in your application package. You’ll also get a checklist reminder to help you keep up with your missing items.
With your application complete, you can now begin submitting all the supporting documents. Each of these items can be competed in the application portal, and your admissions counselor can help you complete any items you have difficulty with. Below is a list of the supporting items necessary to complete your son’s application package:
- Photo – upload a photo of your son
- Transcript Request Form – this form will be used to request your son’s transcript
- Parent Authorization for Release of Records – this form will be sent to your son’s current school to request all of his records once he’s ready to enroll
- Principal Evaluation – can be completed automatically online by supplying your son’s current principal’s name and email (your admissions counselor can help, too!)
- English and Math Teacher Recommendations – like the principal form, these forms are fully online
Once these items are complete, your admissions counselor will schedule an interview with your son to get to know him a little better. After completing his interview your full package will be ready to go to the Admissions Committee for review. The committee will complete a thorough review of your son’s application package and provide an acceptance decision. Normally, the committee completes the review process in 2-3 business days.
With your application package complete and submitted to the committee, now is a great time to begin your tuition assistance application if you intend to apply for aid.
