In front of a raucous Corps of Cadets, the Hargrave Military Tigers simply could not hold on. After a slow start that saw the Tigers’ lowest quarter score of the season, Hargrave trailed by a score of 27-17 at the break. Feeding off the energy of the crowd on Senior Night however, Hargrave would rattle off a 12-0 run in just over two minutes in the third quarter to secure their first lead since the opening minute. The Tigers pumped in 31 points in the third, taking a 6 point lead into the final period. Unfortunately for the Tigers, much like their meeting in Charlottesville earlier in the year, the Eagles utilized hot three point shooting and a bevy of free throws down the stretch to secure the upset victory.
The loss eliminates the Tigers from the VIC conference tournament and marks the final home game for Seniors Keon McIntosh, Ben Dorfman, Josh Fields and Jason Fields.
The Tigers, currently ranked #8 in the VISAA State Rankings, will wait selection and seeding for the state tournament, which kicks off Tuesday, February 25th.
