Braxton Beverly Joins 1,500 Point Club at Hargrave Military Academy

Braxton Beverly eclipsed the 1,500 point milestone against Charlotte Basketball Academy on Friday night’s
kick-off to the Rudy Lane Classic. The large crowd on hand was aware of the milestone before tip-off, and
there was a palpable buzz leading into the game as family, friends and fans alike awaited the historic moment.
Sharp-shooting Beverly reached the mark after his fourth point of the contest, which appropriately came off a
three-pointer just 4 minutes into the game.
The milestone puts Beverly, an Ohio State commit, in a unique position of history in Hargrave Basketball. Even
in a program with a deep history of success and achievement, one that was voted “Program of the Decade” in
2012 by RealGM Basketball and features 23 alums that have reached the NBA, Beverly will go down as one of
the all-time greats as one of the top scorers and winningest players in program history.
A true success story at Hargrave, Beverly’s legend has grown from a small-town hero in his native Kentucky to
a star on the brightest of stages, with his performances regularly garnering national attention. Beverly returned
to Hargrave after captaining the 2015-16 Tigers to a Prep National Championship and an overall record of
47-1. Beverly hit a major scoring milestone during that season as well, breaking the school’s all-time
single-game scoring record with a 70 point outburst during the 2016 Hargrave-Chatham Hall Fight Against
Cancer Challenge. The 70 points were good enough to best Terry Rozier, currently of the Boston Celtics, who
scored 69 in a game in 2013.
Beverly’s career record at Hargrave now stands at 71-2, and with 17 regular season games remaining this
season, he looks to continue his assault on 2,000 career points and a second national championship ring.
