A strong first-half performance was not enough, as the Tigers fell 51-42 to the visiting Liberty Christian Bulldogs. After leading by as many as 9 in the first half, the teams went to the locker room with a five point spread, in Hargrave’s favor, separating them.
The tide turned early in the second half though, as the Tigers fell behind by three points heading into the 4th quarter. The teams would play to a virtual stalemate in the 4th, with the game up for grabs heading into the final two minutes of action, with Liberty Christian nursing a 3 point lead. From there though, the Bulldogs would knock down their free throws to ice the game, and Hargrave could not respond on the other end.
Pacing the Tigers on the evening was Fred Ponder, who was the lone double digit scorer for Hargrave with 13 points. Keon McIntosh chipped in with 8 rebounds.
