Cadets Begin Their 2021-2022 Academic, Athletic, Spiritual, and Character Journey

Thursday morning, August 26, 2021, cadets gathered promptly on Company Street at 7:00 am. With cadets in formation, Hargrave Commandant CWO3 Jason Rader restated his expectations for the upcoming year with these words, “Excellence in the classroom, on the field of competition, and across the campus will not be the exception.  Excellence will be the norm.  Gone will be the days of the TACs correcting and directing. This year cadet leaders will be held to a higher standard than in recent history.  It may seem like a tough challenge, but I know the young men who will be leading this year and they are well capable of leading the Corps to new heights.”

After formation, cadets swiftly proceeded to the chapel, where they were greeted by faculty and staff. Dr. Jim Tung, Academic Dean, shared with the young men the Core Values of Hargrave. The faculty then pledged to provide each cadet with an outstanding educational experience during the school year.

Since then, cadets have already attended an Honor Council Induction and started on placement testing. This year’s Corps of Cadets includes boys from the United States, China, Egypt, Mexico, Germany, Taiwan, and Nigeria. These boys will spend the next eight months forging the bonds of brotherhood, learning to follow, and learning to lead. We wish them all the best in the coming year.
