Clayton Hughes has ended his commitment and has signed a full basketball scholarship to Indiana State University. Clayton established himself as a human highlight reel this year, throwing down mix-tape worthy dunks seemingly every game. On top of his high flying acts, he was also deadly from behind the arc, shooting 46% from 3pt range and averaging 12.3 points per game overall. Head Coach A.W. Hamilton commented on Clayton’s abilities:
“Clayton is one of the best athletes we’ve ever had at Hargrave. When everything is clicking for him, he’s as good as anyone in the country at any level. There’s no doubt in my mind that Clayton can make an immediate impact at the highest levels of college basketball. He has a chance to do some special things at a place with some very special history, and I’m thrilled that the fans of Indiana State will get to see him play over the next four years.”
Hughes led the Tigers with an astonishing 29 charges taken on the year. He had a host of high-major Division 1 schools recruiting him, and chose Indiana State after taking a visit and immediately knowing it was the right fit. Hughes is one of 12 Division 1 signees from this year’s team and one of 14 overall players to sign scholarships.
