Exciting Personnel Changes at Hargrave

We are thrilled to announce several key personnel changes at Hargrave, marking a significant step forward in our continuous pursuit of excellence.

Wesley McClure: Assistant Head of School Mr. Wesley McClure, a distinguished educator with a rich background in boarding and military schools, will assume the role of Assistant Head of School. A graduate of Liberty University and Moody Theological Seminary, Wes brings a wealth of experience, including his time as Dean of Students at Sunshine Bible Academy and Chamberlain-Hunt Academy. His commitment to holistic education and faith development aligns perfectly with Hargrave’s mission. After four years leading the Admissions team, Wes will now coordinate the work of various departments as we strengthen Hargrave’s programs and outreach efforts.

Christy Mayhew Lipscomb: Director of Admissions Mrs. Christy M. Lipscomb P’22 has been promoted from Associate Director of Admissions to Director of Admissions. With her extensive experience in admissions and education, including her tenure as a CTE/ Dual Enrollment Instructor, Special Education Teacher, and Assistant Director of Admissions at Chatham Hall, Christy is well suited to lead our admissions team. Her deep connections to the local community and to Hargrave, evidenced by her son’s graduation in 2022, will be invaluable as we expand our enrollment and venture into new markets.

Nikki Bowler Shields: Interim Director of Advancement Mrs. Nikki Shields, a graduate of Old Dominion University and former Family Services Specialist, has been appointed Interim Director of Advancement. Nikki has previously served in both the Advancement office as Director of the 1909 Fund and on our Marketing team, and her profound understanding of our donor base and advancement systems is a tremendous asset.

Josh Cothran: Admissions Counselor Coach Josh Cothran ’98, P’27, transitions from his role as College Counselor to join the Admissions Office full-time. His dedication to Hargrave as an alumnus and parent and his experience as Head Football Coach will enrich our admissions efforts.

Krista Montesano Peterson: College Counselor Taking over as College Counselor, Mrs. Krista Peterson will work alongside Leah Burnette, our School Counselor, to guide our students through their college preparation journey. Her experience, spanning three decades in school admissions and independent educational consulting, positions her perfectly to support and advise our students in their future educational endeavors.

Joe Adams: Assistant Athletic Director Finally, we welcome Mr. Joe Adams, succeeding Blake Bivens as Assistant Athletic Director. Joe’s impressive background in law enforcement and as a wrestling coach in Connecticut brings a unique perspective to Hargrave. Besides his administrative duties, Joe will also lead our wrestling team as head coach.
