Hargrave 6 – Fork Union 0
The Tigers took to the field for their last game of the season against the Fork Union Blue Devils. On a muddy and relatively immobile field, the Tigers were able to muster up a late drive in quadruple overtime to win the game 6-0.
Offensively, Preston Cleckley and Deon Long stood out for Hargrave. Cleckley caught the game winning touchdown from 25 yards out, and Long amassed 108 receiving yards, as well as returning 3 punts for 95 yards. The running back core of Jerrell Rhodes, Alex Owah, Bill Nyantakyi, and Tahron Goods managed to allow Hargrave to play ball control offense and help the Tiger defense stay rested.
Defensively, the Tiger defensive line played like men amongst boys. Defensive end Ego Ferguson finished with 2 sacks and 5 QB hurries. Defensive tackle Josh Watson finished with 2 sacks, 4 tackles for loss, and 3 QB hurries, and Defensive end Mike Thomas collected 2 sacks, 3 tackles for loss, and 3 QB hurries.
Other defensive standouts included defensive backs Ross Madison, Dylan Farrington, and Prince Kent, while linebackers Jimmy O’Grady, Jimmie Lewis, and Brandon Hazzard all played solid games.
The Tigers thank all of the Hargrave fans, parents, and faculty for their support en route to another successful season.
