Hargrave 33 – Newberry 14
The Hargrave PG football team looked good Friday afternoon as they took on the Newberry College Wolves (JV) team. Leading the Tigers was quarterback Marcus McDade throwing for 215 yards and three touchdowns. Catching those touchdowns were Martavis Bryant (2tds) and Eddie Johnson (1td). D.J. Williams also threw a touchdown to Bryant in the forth quarter. Jamaal Jackson clocked a solid performance rushing the ball 13times for 85 yards. Aaron Criswell also had a nice day with 2 receptions on the afternoon.
Defensively, a blocked punt was recovered in the end zone for a touchdown by Corey Crawford as a punt was blocked by numerous Tiger defenders. Brian Purnell had the only Tigers interception in the game coming in the forth quarter and was returned 22 yards. The Tigers second punt block came by the hands of Dante Divine and was recovered Brandon Williams. Solid defensive back play was provided by Josh Edet and Jonathan Wimbish, as they accounted for many pass break-ups all afternoon.
The Tiger PG football team looks to keep their record perfect as they travel to Chapel Hill to take on the Southern Tech Wildcats on Monday October 11, 2010.
