The Rifle season came to an end on February 22, 2020 with the League Championship hosted by Fishburne Military Academy.
Our season began with over 30 cadets signed up for the Rifle Team and we finished the season with 13 dedicated and motivated shooters. Over the season our top 4 shooters emerged, to include Eli Benjamin, Barney Li, Dongjun Ma, and Bojong Yang.
These young men spent all day Saturday competing at a very high level against very seasoned and proficient shooters from the other schools. Our beloved top 4 worked hard all week and appeared to be peaking at the critical time. Once on the firing line they did their best under very tough conditions, and emerged from the first round with a confidence that sent a sharp pain of doubt through the hearts of the other coaches. As the Match wore on, however, it was clear the Fishburne and Massanutten top shooters came to compete and ultimately prevailed.
Our young men showed great tenacity and commitment throughout the season, and all have improved overall. I am very excited about our next season and the absolute privilege of coaching these athletes and watching them hone their skills and competitive edge. I couldn’t be prouder of our Rifle Team!
