Forensics Competed at Liberty High School For SWVaFL

Aaron Marshall

The Forensics team took 11 competitors to the SWVaFL tournament held at Liberty High School.  For four of the students, this was their first time competing in a tournament!

In Student Congress, Abraham Frazier and Hayden Bressoud faced off against a larger chamber than before, which made getting face-time with the judges harder.  Nevertheless, Frazier managed to bring home 3rd place!

Nicholas Duran returned to Extemporaneous Speaking for this tournament, and also placed 3rd in an impressive performance through both rounds!

Our biggest surprise came in the category of Public Forum Debate.  This is the first time in years that Hargrave has fielded a PF team, but that didn’t stop our boys from sending two teams!  Joahcin Taneus and Jesse Vogg muscled through two tough rounds to finish 6th place overall.  Brian Williams and Adam Saliu turned a number of heads by tying for 2nd place with a 2-0 record!

The boys are continuing to hone their skills and improve their methods to become more competitive in their areas of Speech & Debate!  Our next tournament will be this Saturday at Northwest Guilford County High School in Greensboro, NC.
