The Hargrave Tigers jumped out to a 10-0 lead and never looked back in their 96-42 victory over Westover Christian Academy. With the win, the Tigers move to 9-1 on the season.

Hargrave, playing in their seventh game since December 5th, showed no signs of tired legs as an early run really set the tone for the remainder of the game. On the game’s opening play, Reggie Walton ’20 found IJ Ezuma ’21 behind the Westover zone defense for the alley oop then moments later, off a steal, Mazae Blake ’20 brought the crowd to their feet with a thunderous slam as part of the Tigers 10-0 run. Westover made a run after the Tigers initial push, as they cut the Hargrave lead to as little as four, 16-12, in the first quarter. But Hargrave, unphased, went on a 42-7 run over the rest of the first half to take a 58-19 lead into halftime. Hargrave was led in the first half by Blake, who chipped in 18 of his game high 20 points, and Ethan Gadson ’20, who poured in 11 of his 15 points.

In the second half, the Tigers showed no signs of stopping as they increased their lead to 50 points by the end of the third quarter, as Nick Hammock ’22 paced Hargrave en route to finishing the game with a career high 16 points. Hargrave also got a great second half contribution from Caleb Causey ’21 as he connected on 6 of 9 shots resulting in a career high 14 points. The Tigers ended up shooting 54.8% from the floor and all ten players logged double digit minutes as they led from wire to wire in the 96-42 victory.
