Four Tigers Score Double Figures in Win over Carlisle

The Hargrave Tigers traveled to Martinsville, Virginia to take on the Carlisle School Chiefs where the Tigers emerged victorious, 71-55. Hargave moved to 3-0 on the season with the win. 

After a scoreless first minute of action, Reggie Walton ’20 connected on a layup after a steal and theTigers never looked back. Hargrave held the lead for the remainder of the game in large part due to their frenetic defensive pace and some hot shooting in the second and third quarters. Leading 19-14 after the first quarter of action, Hargrave limited Carlisle to just 15 points between the second and third quarters combined, while the Tigers poured in 38 points over that same time. 

Walton and Mazae Blake ’20 both chipped in 17 points a piece, while Nathan Kania ’20 added 14 points and IJ Ezuma ’21 finished with 11 points to account for the Tigers that scored in double figures last night. A late Carlisle push was not enough, as the Chiefs scored 26 points in the fourth quarter, including an 18-2 run that cut the Hargrave lead to as little as 14 points but the Tigers iced the game at the line, going 4-4 from the charity stripe in the final two minutes to earn the victory.

The Tigers will be back in action on December 5th, following their Thanksgiving break. Hargrave heads to Alexandria, Virginia to participate in the 64th Annual Sleepy Thompson Basketball Tournament from December 5th-7th with their opening round match up taking place against Maret School on Thursday, December 5th. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:00 PM.
