Last Thursday, the Hargrave Golf team took a trip to Old Trail near Charlottesville, Virginia to compete in a tri-match with conference opponents, Miller School and Fishburne Military School. After nine great holes of golf, the Tigers emerged victorious over both schools! Check out what Head Coach, Richard Phillips, had to say about the match:
The golf team played a tri-match against Miller School and Fishburne Military. I’m happy to say that we came away with two wins and a team score of 194. That’s roughly 40 strokes better than our previous team best. It was a team effort. All of our guys stayed focused, used the skills they learned, and played like real pros.
It’s worth mentioning that every player on the team scored either a personal best or a season best. We even reached one of our team goals. To shoot a score under 200. The next one is a score under 190, which is attainable, provided everyone stays as focused as they were on Thursday.
Notables included John Classen and Archie Hooper who both shot 46 on a course that was tougher than our home course. Johnathan Possey scored his season best of 48. If it hadn’t been for a verifiable problem with his range-finder he would have matched the 46 shot by John and Archie. Phoenix Johnson, George Hohman and Eli Arnold did not shoot personal best, but each cut almost 10 strokes off their performance of last Tuesday.
