On Monday afternoon the Hargrave Tigers protected their home course with an impressive 194-201 victory over visiting Blue Ridge School. The win moved the Tigers to 3-5-1 on the season.
The Tigers’ 194 on the scorecard was within one stroke of their season low. “We continue to improve weekly,” stated Head Coach Richard Phillips. “Our guys are really starting to see meaningful strides in their game and those improvements are starting to show on the scorecard for a number of these guys!”
Hargrave was thrilled to be on their home course after a pair of road matches last week on some very difficult courses. The Tigers took full advantage of being at home as three golfers posted personal bests at Cedars Country Club. Joseph Assen ’23 (Marysville, OH) notched a 49, Jonathan Posey ’23 (Forest, VA) posted a 54, and John Classen ’25 (McLean, VA) carded a 59. Hargrave was led by junior captain, Carter Brinson (Charlotte, NC), as turned in his third round under 40 this season with a team low 38.
The Tigers are back in action on Thursday April 29th as they head to Crozet, VA to face off with Miller School at Old Trail Golf Club. The match is set to begin at 4:30 PM.
