Ground attacks paves the way for 2nd Post Grad Win!

The Post Graduate football team continued there winning ways as they won Saturday night. The Tigers took on the Hampton Roads Community College, and defeated the Gators 44-14 on a rainy and soggy night.
The defensive side of the ball again continued to cause tournovers and improve as a unit. Defensively, the Tigers grabbed 2 interceptions as well as forced a safety against the vistors. Shaq Lawson sacked the Gators quarterback as he rolled out of the pocket for a safety early in the second quarter. Both interceptions were grabbed by linebackers Kaleb Edenfield and Shawn Hall. Hall recorded his second interception in as many games, and returned this for for a touchdown. Terrell Basham caused havoc on the opposing offense recording the a sack, 5 tackles, and a QB hurry which resulted in Hall’s interception. The tigers recorded 7 sacks on the day, as the kept pressure on the Gators offense. Those with sacks were: John Atkins, Lavonne Gauthney, Shaq Lawson, Leonard Floyd, Lester Liston, Terrell Basham, and Nathan Holmes. Safety Stephen Marsh also had a productive day on special teams 2 tackles and 3 big hits.
The Tigers took to the ground on the rainy night and the offensive line paved the way for 297 yards rushing. Running Back Johnnie Martin carried the ball 8 times for 73 yards and 2 touchdowns. Martin’s second TD came on a shifty run and spin from 30 yards out. The leading carrier on the night from QB James Summers who rushed for a team high 159 yards and 2 TD’s. Artimas Samuel caught his second TD of the season. WR’s Willie Davis & Shelby Wilkerson each averaged over 12 yards a catch on the evening.
Tigers have came together and continue to learn and develop under the guidance of the coaching staff. The Post Grad’s next came takes them away from the confines of Dick Dyer field and up route 40 to Rocky Mount, Va next sunday as the Tigers prepare to take on the Panthers of Ferrum College. Kickoff is set for 1p.m.
