Following another historic season at the helm of the Hargrave Post-Graduate Basketball Team, Head Coach A.W. Hamilton was recently named the 2016-17 East Region Coach of the Year by NextUp Recruits. Hamilton’s team went 43-2 and advanced to another National Final Four. This year’s team lit up the scoreboard, including the Hargrave single game scoring record(163; 2/15/17) while averaging 114 points per game. Hamilton’s home winning streak was also extended to 75 games, with his last home loss coming in the winter of 2014. This is Hamilton’s third East Region Coach of the Year award (2014,2015,2017), to go along with this two National Coach of the Year honors (2012,2016).
In addition to the on-court success that Hamilton’s team achieved, the year was a resounding success off the court. 12 players from this year’s roster have already committed to NCAA Division 1 schools, which is tied for the most Division 1 signees in school history (2004). Hargrave also signed 10 players with NCAA Division 1 schools during the early signing period, which is the highest total in the country.
