Head Coach Lee Martin’s homecoming to Catawba College, where he starred as a 4-year starter on the Men’s Basketball Team, went just as he hoped, with his Tigers emerging with a decisive 119-77 victory. Hargrave jumped out to an early 14-2 lead and never looked back, leading the entire game after an emphatic Tre King alley-oop on the opening possession. Tre King continued to dominate for the remainder of the contest, logging a team high 25 points to go along with 11 rebounds and two steals. Tavin Lovan also had his way with the Indians, filling the stat sheet with 24 points (including 3 3-pointers), a team-high 12 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals. Connor Crabtree (10 points, 4 assists, 3 steals) and Trey McGowens (12 points, 4 steals, 4 assists) also reached double figures for the Tigers. Bryce Beamer (9 points, 3-3 3PT) and Jon Mebane (9 points, 3-5 3PT) were both efficient from beyond the arc as part of the balanced scoring attack.
The win moves the Tigers to 9-1 on the season. They will be back in action at the Legacy Nissan Classic in London, Kentucky on December 3rd, squaring off against Quality Education Academy in the event’s primetime slot.
