Hargrave Forensics Has First Competition at Liberty High School

Aaron Marshall

The Hargrave Forensics team made its season debut with the opening Southwest Virginia Forensics League Qualifying tournament held at Liberty High School.  Many students representing Hargrave were competing for the first time in speech/debate events, but that didn’t stop them from making a great first impression!

Abraham Frazier tied for 6th place in Lincoln-Douglas Debate, earning a bid to compete in the championships next semester! In Extemporaneous Speaking, both Luis Ramirez Vale and Nicholas Duran placed 5th and 4th respectively, also qualifying for the championships!

All our competitors had a great time and found a number of things they could improve upon for later competitions.  This will be a team to keep an eye on as the season progresses!
