For the second straight game, Hargrave was able to preserve a 1-0 lead to earn a victory over Lynchburg Homeschool. Once again, Cadet Chris Czarnecki scored the game’s only goal, clinically finishing a beautiful through ball from Cadet Kyle Wint for his team-leading fifth goal of the season in the 8th minute.
The Tigers pushed the tempo the entire game and had the defense on their heels, out-shooting Lynchburg Homeschool by 13 shots and hitting the post four times in the second half.
Cadet Nick Rice (12 saves) recorded the first wire-to-wire clean sheet of his Hargrave career. The defensive unit of Cadets Luke Dewitt, Chandler O’Connor, Tselmeg Ganbold, Patrick Franzoni and Scott Rive have been superb, as it has been 204 minutes of game-time since the Tigers have allowed the opposition to score.
Hargrave improves to 4-0-2 (1-0-1) on the season with the non-conference victory.
Hargrave will return to action Wednesday as they travel to Charlottesville, VA to take on VIC rival Covenant. Kick-off is scheduled for 4:30.
